Golf Courses by City

Arizona is a true desert golfing mecca. The Phoenix/Scottsdale area is at the center of activity with over 175 area courses, but there is also plenty of golfing gold in Tucson, and in the forested northern part of the state.

In Scottsdale, Desert Highlands gets high marks. Golfing enthusiast say it is as beautiful visually as it is to play; luxuriant green links dot stark desert. There is a bit of history associated with this course; it’s the site of the first Skins Game in 1983 and featured Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Tom Watson.

In Tucson, the Mountain Course at Ventana Canyon, 36 championship holes in the shadow of the Santa Catalina Mountains, gets high praise from golfers. Tucson’s North Course at Randolph Park was the site of the LPGA Classic Championship for 23 years. In Prescott to the north, there are many intriguing choices for golfing aficionados. Antelope Hills is a municipal course has a rough-hewn 18-hole North Course that reminds some golfers of Scottish links. The Canyon Course at Forest Highlands in Flagstaff is not to be missed for Arizona golfers.
